“Was President Joe Biden in a position to be making decisions? Or was this a replay of the Woodrow Wilson administration where he was paralyzed and his wife, Edith Wilson, was essentially running our government? That’s something that deserves investigation. Absolutely.”
Those were the words of GAI president Peter Schweizer, who appeared on ‘Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo’ and was asked about recent reporting that most of the documents signed by Biden during his term, including last-minute pardons of his family members, were actually signed by an auto-pen. Schweizer stressed that the use of the auto-pen is not the key question, but rather whether the elderly Biden was mentally aware of what he was signing.
Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett agreed, noting the auto-pen has been used by busy presidents since the days of Harry Truman.
The panel also discussed federal judges’ efforts to thwart President Donald Trump’s agenda. Schweizer noted a study from the Harvard Law Review tracking the number of times nationwide injunctions had been issued by federal courts over the past decades.
“There were five nationwide injunctions during the George W. Bush administration, and there were 10 under Barack Obama. In Donald Trump’s first term there were 64. This is an extension of lawfare,” Schweizer said.
The panel also commented on Trump’s recent orders revoking the security clearances for Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, and many other former federal government intelligence officials.
“Security clearances have been abused massively. You had former intelligence officials not only injecting themselves into the political process, but also commercializing their access to security clearances. It is high time we curtail their use,” Schweizer said.
